Thanks for tuning into another great episode of Schooling Noah w/Aaron Maslow & a Special Guest. Noah and Aaron are lucky as hell to get to talk to the impressively knowledgeable and hilarious, John Novosad. John is a long time comedian from Boulder and lover of Bob Dylan, but more importantly, he is a fanatic when it comes to Mesopotamia’s Yatzee otherwise known as Backgammon.
Backgammon is a game of skill and luck and tolerance and appreciation and gambling and triangles. Roll the dice, do math. That’s what it sounds like coming out of John’s mouth. However complicated the game is to visualize–no one even thought to bring a game board to actually look at–it doesn’t sound too hard. John plays it if that tells you anything. It tells you everything. It’s sophisticated and fun. Backgammon is America’s unspeakable pastime. People love it and you will too!
Just as Noah and Aaron were busy trying to keep up by counting on their fingers, John digs in and gets to the good stuff. Backgammon the Musical? Check. Talking shit about his manipulative, cheating backgammon friend? Yep. Doubling cubes? Yes and yes. Cribbage? Uh huh. Sloppy dice rules? Yup. Dude, this episode has it all! You’ll want to get your stones off before the other guy and listen to this entire pod.
Aaron and Noah tried to get John Novosad on the show back when they all went to Trinidad, CO together for the Southwest Chief Comedy Festival. It didn’t happen until now and it’s a thrill! We’ve got headlines and a new sketch! Check out John at his website www.hippieman.com for upcoming stand up dates including his headlining gig at Comedy Works!
