“The rat is a Chef!” – Adrian Mesa
Adrian Mesa educates Noah and Aaron about food on this episode of Schooling Noah w/Aaron Maslow and a Special Guest. Adrian is a renowned tri-county chef who specializes in Cuban-American fare. (Potato chip sandwiches, anyone?) He has been cooking up plenty of fun that he is dishing out to ya’ boys and our listeners!
The big question for making this show was how do you boil down a huge topic like food into a bite-size show? There are different kinds of food, obviously, but the cultural importance, the preparation and cooking style, the origins and tastiness all play vital roles in people’s relationships with their food. Sharing the experience and history is the content of libraries. Don’t worry, though. We got this. Adrian covers all of it..mostly. Not only does he pepper in stories of his humble roots cooking Johnny Cakes and whipping up vegetarian meals for his (now ex) girlfriend, but he talks about the way food has impacted his life. If he wasn’t a chef, for example, he’d still be in that shitty ska band in Kissimmee, FL.
Today’s podcast gets into fun topics like Choripan, Aaron‘s worst anecdotes, jarred salsa, Marco Polo, Ruth’s Chris salads, lessons on grilling, where to get the best cheeseburger (shout out to Genna Rae‘s) and oat milk. Adrian teaches Noah and Aaron about the similarities and differences of foods all across the world! Indian food, Irish food, Argentinian delights, Civil War-era grub, sea food, noodles, sauce! They’re all the same…and different. It’s no wonder his last name (Mesa) is Spanish for table because he is flat out serving up some hot takes on this smorgasbord of entertainment!
Adrian is a talented chef and caterer. He is also a comedian from South Florida based in Denver, Colorado. Here’s a website he doesn’t update: Blogspot. Probably just look him up on Facebook.com/AdrianPMesa. Follow Adrian on Twitter: @MesaDilla
